Industry History Project

An Oral History of Theatrical Lighting and Its People

A project launched from a desire, shared by many people, to capture the history of our industry as told by the people who lived it, before their voices are lost to us forever.

Mission Statement
The mission of this project is to create a history of the theatrical and entertainment lighting industry as seen through the eyes of those who have worked as manufacturers, distributors, designers, consultants and technicians. Interviews will focus on tracing the impact of developing technology on the creative process. This recorded history will be preserved for publication in diverse media and future research.

Sponsors
ESTA (Entertainment Services and Technology Association), USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology, Inc.), Lighting&Sound America and Live Design magazines. The project is being coordinated by the History Committee, which includes representatives from the sponsoring organizations and industry professionals.
